I am an entirely self-taught artist, who grew up with a love and appreciation of the beauty of nature. Growing up in eastern Kentucky gave me a unique opportunity to study the skillful craftsmanship of local blacksmiths, basketmakers and weavers, quilt makers, and furniture artisans. Thier dedication and love of their craft was instilled in me at an early age, and I continue to advance their maticulous approach in creating my own art. Using this pride and devotion as the backbone of my work professionally since 1979, I have continued to refine my own technique through the years. Though I strive for improvement every day while creating artwork, my goal has remained the same for over thirty years -- to capture and "freeze in time" the fleeting beauty of my natural surroundings.
